Vietnam is a popular tourist destination, and there are two main ways to get a visa to enter the country: the Vietnam E-Visa and the Vietnam Visa On Arrival. Both visas have their own advantages and disadvantages, so it's important to compare them before you decide which one is right for you.

 

Vietnam E-Visa

The Vietnam E-Visa is a relatively new visa option that was introduced in 2017. It can be applied for online, and it's valid for up to 30 days. The E-Visa is a good option for travelers who want to avoid the hassle of applying for a visa at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate. You can use E-Visa in 33 international airport, landport, seaport in Vietnam. From 15th, August, 2023, the new E-Visa ( 90 days – multiple entry) will release. It allows citizens from 157 countries to apply E-Visa and enjoy longer trips in Vietnam.

When you receive the E-Visa Letter, it is a PDF File which enables you to print out. If you do not have time to print it, you can show it on your phone to the customs.

After arriving at Vietnam Airport, you will get Visa Stamp at the Visa Landing Counter.

Types of E-Visa:

- Tourist E-Visa (90 days – multiple entry)

- Business Visa On Arrival (90 days – multiple entry)

 

Advantages of the Vietnam E-Visa:

-            Eligible for some designated countries

-            Can be applied for online

-            Processing time is typically 1-3 working days

-            Valid for up to 90 days (takes affect from August 15th)

-            No need to visit a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate

-            Reduce wasting time and commuting costs

-            Can be printed out or be shown on the phone

-            Cheaper than Visa On Arrival

-            No need to pay additional fee at the airport

 

Vietnam Visa On Arrival

The Vietnam Visa On Arrival is a more traditional visa option that has been around for many years. It can be applied for at any Vietnamese International airport upon arrival, and it's valid for up to 15 days. The Visa On Arrival is a good option for travelers who are not eligible for E-Visa.

If you apply for Visa On Arrival, you will receive the Approval Letter, which is a PDF File. You need to print it out, you cannot show it on your phone as E-Visa. Please note that you are required the Visa approval letter beforehand to get Visa upon arrival.

After arriving at Vietnam Airport, you will get Visa Stamp and Visa Sticker at the Visa Landing Counter.

- Tourist Visa On Arrival (15 days – single entry)

- Business Visa On Arrival (3 months– multiple entry)

Advantages of the Vietnam Visa On Arrival:

-        Available for all nationalities

-        Can be applied online to get Approval Letter beforehand

-        Processing time is typically 7-10 working days

-        No need to pay additional fee at the airport
