tarting April 15, 2026, all foreign passport holders must complete a pre-arrival declaration form prior to their arrival at the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. This policy applies to both foreign passport holders and overseas Vietnamese entering Vietnam with a visa.
What is the Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form?
The Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form is a QR-based digital declaration system that collects basic entry information before you meet the immigration officer. It is implemented by the Vietnam Immigration department to modernize immigration management and enhance service quality for passengers—ensuring a fast, convenient, and safe experience
The Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form must be completed within 3 days prior to your departure for Vietnam. Currently, this form is not required for travelers arriving via Tan Son Nhat International airport (SGN).
Who Needs to Complete It?
Before filling out the form, it’s important to confirm whether this requirement applies to your travel situation.
It’s required for:
- - Foreign passport holders
- - Overseas Vietnamese entering with a valid visa
It’s not required for:
- - Vietnamese citizens
- - Transit passengers (not passing immigration)
How to Submit the Pre-Arrival Form
There are two ways to complete the declaration, but one option is clearly faster and more convenient than the other.
Option 1 — Complete Online Before Departure (Highly Recommended)
Step 1: Access the official website directly or scan the provided QR code:
https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn/
Note: You can complete the declaration up to 72 hours before your arrival, so it’s best to do it before your flight to avoid crowding at the airport. When you enter the interface, remember to select your preferred language, then click CREATE AND SUBMIT DECLARATION, enter the verification code, and continue.
Enter the CAPTCHA code and click verify.
On the next screen, select your Nationality and click Continue.
Step 2: Declare passenger information
Upload your Passport data page image;
In the personal information section, fill in basic details such as your expected Date of arrival, Passport number, Full name, Gender, etc. Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory—if left incomplete, you will not be able to submit the form.
For the visa section, select the correct Type of visa or purpose of entry, such as e-visa, visa exemption, temporary residence card, etc. Then enter your Visa number (Số.), Issue date, and Expiry date.
If you are traveling with family members or children, you can add additional passengers in this section.
Step 3: Enter flight information
You need to provide your Departure location before arriving in Vietnam, the Purpose of entry (tourism, business, visiting relatives, etc.), Means of transportation, and Flight number.
Another important detail is your Accommodation address in Vietnam—it can be a hotel or a relative’s home, but make sure it is clearly stated, and Work place information (for Business and working purpose). Finally, enter your expected departure date from Vietnam.
Step 4: Receive QR code and complete entry
After completing all sections, tick the confirmation box and click SUBMIT. The system will send a QR code to your email.
Save this QR code on phone/devide, it is extremely important—when you arrive at the airport, simply present it to the immigration officer to complete the procedure much faster.

Option 2 — Scan QR Code After Arrival
QR codes are available at the airport immigration area. However, this option may lead to delays during peak hours. The steps are the same as option 1.
