From 12th August 2014, the major of Vietnamese must have visa when they enter Thailand. Many tourism company said that this policy not only come into effect to Vietnamese but also with other countries. In the other hand, this policy still make Vietnamese feel obstacle when deciding to enter Thailand.
Representative office of Thailand General Directorate show that Thailand Immigration Department just require free visa for tourist, the others must have visa. If they detect you in shirking to get visa, you will be warned and forced to get visa as their rules.
The newest information from Thailand is that from 12th August 2014, Thailand Immigration Department will have many tough measures for those who shirking to get visa. Vietnamese citizens and others want to enter Thailand for not tourism purpose must have visa from Thailand Embassy.
Thailand Government explained that this is a solution to control people who taking unfair advantage of the free visa for tourist to work illegally in this country.
The office which is in charge of tourism recommend tourists should arrange essential documents, such as: round trip flight ticket, confirmed room reservation, expenditure… in case customs ask for. For caravan, the leaders have to provide itinerary, list, the tourism company…
In May, Thanh Nien online reflected that staff of entrance and exit department at Aranyaprathet border gate forced Vietnam tourists show $700 to them; then they took a photo before allowed these tourists enter Thailand.
Thailand also explained that they expect to prevent Vietnamese from entering Thailand then working here illegally. However, Thailand removed this rule and promulgated other policy for a minority of Vietnamese defying arrangement which is free visa for Vietnamese (30 days).
